Description

Chikuse Nippon hand painted teacup and saucer with gold beading and edge details. This set dates from 1920-1940 and is in excellent shape for its age. There is a black spot in the finish of the teacup and a slight white dot missing detail on it as well (see pictures).  There are a couple of tiny black dots in the finish and a slight crack on the edge of the teacup. There is slight rubbing of the gold on the feet of the footed teacup. This piece is from a collector who kept her sets well protected. Her family lore said this was one of her first sets from when she was very young, around 1930, and though that is solely word of mouth, we found it very interesting in regard to this set. The saucer is a scalloped 5.5 inches diameter and the teacup is 3.5 inches diameter.
