So, this set is interesting, simply marked Hand Painted and Made in Japan. The luster and pattern say it predates 1940 and to be honest, we haven’t been able to track it’s exact date or maker. The floral and bird design is incredibly unique. The black detail on the cup and saucer looks like it was applied yesterday. There is a black spot in the glaze on the back of the cup. This set of 3.75″ diameter teacup and 5.5″ diameter saucer are from a collector who kept it very protected while it was with her, and it’s thought she’s had it since the early 1960s. Found in the bottom of her stash was the included 7.5″ snack plate with the same floral bird design. The snack plate is a purple edge instead of blue and has the same hand-painted design, so we included it with this set.
